Ricky, the Rock that Couldn't Roll

DESCRIPTION

Join 14 lovable rocks (and one wise little ladybug) on a heartwarming and hilarious journey about the importance of friendship and the power of perseverance.

From zippy little pebbles to big strong boulders, the rock friends get together to play and roll around their favorite hill, only to find that one of their friends, Ricky, can't roll with them. Unlike all of the other rocks, who are all round, Ricky can't roll because he's flat on one side.

Except for poor Ricky, who quietly sat.
You see, Rick couldn't roll, because one side was flat.

His friends didn't get it,
"Come Roll!" they would chant.
So Ricky tried, but replied,
"I'm sorry, I can’t.”

Determined not to leave their friend behind, the rocks set out to help Ricky roll - one way or another.

This sweet, imaginative picture book, written in verse, brings a fresh set of characters to life in a story that highlights perseverance and triumph in the face of adversity, and the power of true friendship.

From the best-selling author of Tess, the Tin that Wanted to Rock, The Bear and the Fern and Patrick Picklebottom and the Penny Book comes this fun, funny and heartwarming that is loved by kids, parents and teachers alike.

Combining the spirit of Shel Silverstein, the heart of Mo Willems and the rhyme and rhythm of Dr. Seuss, Ricky, the Rock is ideal for children ages 3-9 and Pre K-3rd grade. This original story featuring the "You Rock Group" is a book that kids are sure to cherish as they grow, and ask to read over and over again!

LOVE this book! I was looking for a book to go with my nephews birthday gift and bought “Ricky, the Rock That Couldn’t Roll” after reading all the positive reviews. This book is AWESOME!

It has a positive message about friendship, being different and perseverance, while keeping the tone light. The author did a wonderful job with the wording; the rhyming flows beautifully. The illustrations are vibrant and fun and perfectly compliment the story. I loved it. Quickly ordered another copy for my own children.

I like to give a book alongside baby/kids gifts but my “go-to” list was getting a little stale. Really happy to add this to the list. It’s not geared towards one gender and I think it appeals to a broad age range as well. I bought it for a 5 year old boy but according to my SIL, his sisters (2 and 7) love it too! Five stars for this one! Highly recommend!

This book is different and so cool. I love that the content is different than your usual child's book and that it also touches on a lot of emotions you would feel on a normal day. Its silly and engaging and allows your little one to laugh and follow along as well as giving you quick laughs as an adult(the rolling stones and the pebbles lol). I love this book, hope to continue with the series.

“Ricky The Rock That Couldn’t Roll” is an absolute gem of a book that captivated both my 7 year old and 4 year old from the very first page. I’m not going to lie, even I, their mom, found myself thoroughly enjoyed this delightful story.

The artwork is wonderfuk, with each rock character beautifully illustrated and bursting with personality. My children loved getting to know all the different rocks and their unique traits. The story itself is a heartwarming and humbling tale about friendship, acceptance, and the unconditional love that binds friends together.

The message is profound yet perfectly accessible for young readers, teaching them the importance of supporting and loving one another. This book has become a bedtime favorite in our household, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. “Ricky The Rock That Couldn’t Roll” is a must-have addition to any child’s bookshelf!

I am so glad I found this book series! The stories are so cute and entertaining, the illustrations are EXCELLENT and the storylines also teach important things about life like being different, friendship, how to treat people…..my toddler grandbaby loves to read these books, and we made a whole fun project out of them because she loves collecting rocks so now we’ve decorated some of her rocks and named them after the characters in the books! I bought them all and there’s another one I pre-ordered. If you have a little one who loves to read-check out this series. There are also a number of YouTube videos of people reading the books aloud which is fun too!
